Winter is hard on homes near the water. A windstorm drops a tree on the roof, a pipe freezes and bursts, or a fire or flood leaves your house unlivable while the repairs get sorted out. If you live on Camano Island and suddenly need somewhere to stay, the good news is you don’t have to move far. The Retro Willows is a furnished apartment in Old Town Stanwood, right at the gateway to the island.
Stay close to home during repairs
State Route 532 connects Camano Island to Stanwood and on to I-5, so Stanwood is where many islanders already shop, run errands and head off to work. Staying in Old Town Stanwood means you can:
- Get back to the house quickly to meet contractors, adjusters and restoration crews
- Keep your regular commute toward Everett, Seattle or Skagit Valley
- Stick with the same grocery stores, pharmacy and routines you already know
- Avoid weeks in a hotel room far from home
A furnished apartment that feels like home
The Retro Willows is a renovated one-bedroom apartment on the second floor of an 1890 Victorian landmark. It’s ready to live in from day one:
- A full kitchen and coffee bar, so you can cook normal meals
- A queen Lull mattress and room-darkening shades for real sleep during a stressful time
- Sleeps up to 4, which works for a couple or a small family
- A bathtub for a long soak at the end of the day
- Fast Wi-Fi and a workspace if you need to keep working through it all
- Laundry on site, AC, keyless entry and free parking
You can walk to shops, cafes and a grocery store in Old Town, which helps when so much else feels out of place.
How insurance temporary housing usually works
Many homeowners and renters policies include Additional Living Expenses (ALE) coverage, sometimes called loss of use. It can help pay for a place to live while your home is being repaired after a covered loss like fire, water damage or storm damage. Every policy is different, so check with your insurance company or adjuster about what’s covered, for how long, and whether they want to book housing directly.
We’re happy to work with you, your adjuster or a housing coordinator, and monthly and extended stays are welcome. You can find more details on our Stanwood insurance housing page.
